North Pacific Cannery | National Historic Site is unique among the few surviving salmon canneries. It was established in 1889 and is the oldest remaining intact cannery on the West Coast of North America and ran continuously for almost 100 years.
Original architecture and the pristine BC wilderness set the backdrop for a unique and engaging experience. As a visitor to North Pacific you will be in awe of its remarkable river setting on Inverness Passage and wandering amongst the buildings set on wood piles, you will be transported back to the hectic days of cannery life. Each fishing season, North Pacific would employ hundreds of men and women of Chinese, First Nations, Japanese and European backgrounds.
North Pacific welcomes over 10,000 guests each season, and in addition to the historic interpretation, and guided tours, North Pacific Cannery offers other services. Affordable lodging in The old European bunk house full of authentic character and picturesque scenery at your doorstep.
