A visit to the Mission Museum will give you an insight into our community story from the first human occupation in Sto:lo traditional territory dating back over 9,000 years and continuing to the present day. With over 10,000 artifacts, images, videos, and the written word, many donated by the locals and organizations, this is a community collection and a great place to learn about the history of the area from the great land sale to the creation of the rail bridge. With many colourful characters along the way, including the story of Canada’s first train robber Billy Miner, who is thought to have coined the phrase ‘Hands up!’ Even the building speaks to our heritage, housed in a historic 1907 building that originally served as the Canadian Bank of Commerce.
