Join Us for the 27th Annual Arts on the Avenue Festival! Sunday August 24, 10 AM – 4 PM

Experience the vibrant charm of Ladysmith’s historic 1st Avenue as it transforms into an art lover’s paradise for the Arts on the Avenue Market. This year, we’re making it bigger, better, and more exciting than ever!

From early morning on Sunday, top artists from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands will gather, coffee in hand and original works ready to share. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or a seasoned collector, this open-air market is a must-see. Stroll down the lively avenue and discover a stunning array of original paintings, jewelry, fibre art, wood carvings, pottery, glass, metal, Indigenous-made art, and more. Enjoy art demos and visit with the community booths for fun activities. With each artist bringing their unique creations, there’s something for everyone to admire.

The festival is not just about art – it’s an immersive experience! The air is filled with live music throughout the day, and creativity for children will take place at our Kids’ Art Zone. 

Ready to cheer and shout? Our paint competition features 3 emerging artists facing off in a themed art battle.

Local businesses will be open for their annual sidewalk sale – and pop by the Ladysmith Gallery for a special guest artist exhibition – wheelchair accessible washroom and place to cool off during the day.

Ladysmith offers an array of delicious local dining options for all tastes. During the festival, you can grab a bite at the Ladysmith Lions Club Snack Shack, located on-site or one of the other food trucks available on the day
The Ladysmith Downtown Business Association will be hosting a beer garden this year.

Looking for a place to relax and enjoy your meal? We’ve got you covered! Head over to our picnic area, nestled under two shaded tents near the library. Feel free to bring takeout from any of the local spots, and enjoy it while soaking in the sights and sounds of the festival.
